WS Well Pump Renewals at Brooklands (PS1066) & Kainga (PS1067)

Renewal of water supply well pumps at the two water supply network pump stations PS1066 Brooklands and PS1067 Kainga of the independent Brooklands/ Kainga water supply zone.

This is a $565K water & waste project in Coastal, Christchurch, currently in progress.

Renewal of water supply well pumps at the two water supply network pump stations PS1066 Brooklands and PS1067 Kainga of the independent Brooklands/ Kainga water supply zone. These two stations each have one well directly connected to the reticulation. Kainga is the primary station and has two pumps in its well that require replacement due to age. Brooklands is the secondary station and has one pump in its well that has insufficient turndown for stable operation, as the pump is oversized for the current reduced demand from reduction of population. To provide necessary operational performance and resilience of this independent zone, the Brooklands station requires its one oversized well pump to be replaced with two smaller pumps.

Why This Project Matters

Clean, safe drinking water is a basic right. This project is part of the council's programme to maintain and improve the water supply network, meeting national standards for Coastal residents.
